Through the Lord ’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV
Watching the waves roll in as the sun rises proclaiming a new day, I am reminded of God’s mercy and faithfulness. In our daily walk we can become so distracted by many things. We begin with good intentions. We may start the day in His word and in prayer but by lunch we are completely derailed. Maybe the morning is pure chaos and we skip right over our time at the feet of our Lord. And maybe we’ve walked through most of the day in fellowship with our Lord but by the day’s end we were too exhausted to thank Him for that wonderful day. We can all identify with days like these.
But our God is so good, He is merciful, compassionate, and faithful. When our faithfulness falters and our desire grows dim, He waits for us with open arms. He calls out to us subtly in the moments of each day. Whether he calls from the ocean, the sunrise, a child’s sweet smile, just the right song on the radio, a friend’s gentle reminder, a dedicated preacher’s sermon, a butterfly’s fluttering wings, or a kind gesture from a stranger He makes himself known. Sometimes we feel His call when we are alone in silence, but sometimes it is the middle of a crowded room. However, there are times when we miss these gentle whispers and it takes a much louder call for us to hear Him. Sometimes these moments bring us to our knees. In these moments we know He is the only one who can fill us.
Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord ; Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven. Lamentations 3:40-41
I urge you to heed His call, fall into his loving arms, and be washed in His mercy. Know that only He is perfect. We will stumble and we will fall, but His love never fails. If you have sought to walk with Lord, if you once delighted in Him, if you desired to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but have now fallen, remember His mercies are new every morning, turn back to the Lord for He is faithful.
Let us pray: Father God, thank you for mercy, compassion, and faithfulness! I am unable to fathom the depths of Your love nor comprehend your unending mercy. Help my awareness of Your call to grow every stronger. Forgive me for my unfaithfulness and draw me back into Your presence, guide me to the path You have laid out for me. Remove the hinderances from my life and fill me with Your Spirit so that I may desire You above all else in every moment of every day. Amen
